NHS waiting list

Looking to register with an NHS dentist?

The Dental Access Portal ‘DAP’ is your new way to register your interest for routine NHS dentist. This is a new portal introduced by the NHS, you just need to apply online, and we’ll connect you with a dentist whenever a suitable slot becomes available around your area. If you’ve already applied for your interest to register with the NHS dentist through the local health board, then your details have already been transferred to the Dental Access Portal and there’s no need for you to reapply. However, people on a separate NHS waiting list run by the individual dental practices will not automatically be added to the Dental Access Portal.
If you are not currently registered with an NHS dentist, you can apply for a place online if:
  • You are aged 16 or over
  • You have not had routine NHS dental treatment in Wales in the past four years
  • You live at an address in Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf or the Bridgend local authority area for more than six months of the year or are registered with a GP in the area.
You can use the Dental Access Portal to apply for a place with an NHS dentist as an individual and you can add someone else, such as a child under 16. You can also apply on behalf of others, such a family member, friend or someone you care for or have a trusted relationship with.
